THIS 35 MINUTE PLAY HAS BEEN VERY EFFECTIVE AT IDENTIFYING PROBLEMS THAT HAD NOT BEEN IDENTIFIED BY OTHER METHODS.  ITS UNIQUE 3RD PERSON QUALITY PROMOTES AN OPENESS TO DISCUSSING THIS DIFFICULT ISSUE.

This project consists of:

1.  Counselor meets with teachers prior to performance to communicate methods of how to discuss the play with their class after the children have seen it.  Teachers will be informed on how to lead the discussion and what actions to take based on the individual school's policy and preferences.  Some schools may want to send a note home for parents to be aware of the play and its subject matter and give the parents a choice of whether they want their child to see the play.  Some schools may want to invite parents to see the play with the students.

2.  Children see the play

3.  A follow-up discussion is held.  This is usually done at the classroom level by the classroom teacher, however individual schools may want to do this some other way.
